Court Appointed Counsel Orientation

Welcome! The Franklin County Municipal Court is pleased to have you as Court Appointed Counsel. This program is a valuable service to the Court, your clients, and the community we all live in. Orientation is designed to start you off with the necessary information you need to receive cases, represent clients, and get paid for your service.

It is anticipated that your inclusion on the Court Appointed Counsel list will be "probationary" for a period of one (1) year. After that time there will be an opportunity for feedback and that outcome will determine whether or not you will be permanently placed on the appointment list.

Next Steps:

 Watch the Orientation Video
Complete and return the Orientation Completion Acknowledgement
Download and review the Court Appointed Counsel Manual
Complete the Mentorship Program with a court appointed attorney from the Court's Mentor List

These requirements must be completed before you will be assigned cases. If you have not complied with the above within six (6) months, your name will be removed from the list and you must reapply. Reminders will not be sent for completion of these tasks.

As an appointed attorney on the list, annual requirements for CLE and Professional Liability (Malpractice) Insurance contained in Franklin County Municipal Court Local Rule 16.04 must be followed. You will receive a letter each December reminding you of your need to be in compliance with these requirements.
